Hi, I’m MARIAH
I became a midwife because I have profound reverence for the female body and all of its capacities. I believe that when we learn to listen to our bodies and our intuition, our lives can find balance and flow. I also believe that we all deserve healthcare that is empowering, thoughtful, and compassionate. As a midwife, I strive to deliver that, and I recognize that it is an honor to walk alongside people through some of life’s most transformative experiences.
MY STORY
I was drawn to midwifery from a young age, captivated by the wonder of women’s bodies growing and birthing new life. I spent hours pouring over A Child Is Born by Lennart Nilsson, fascinated by the magic of conception. Midwifery has always felt like a calling, something deeply embedded in my bones. On my twenty-first birthday, I discovered that it quite literally runs in my family, with generations of midwives dating back to at least the early 1900s.
Wanting to ensure that my childhood calling was both realistic and sustainable, I chose to first become a labor and delivery nurse. My nursing career affirmed my love for women’s healthcare, pregnancy, and birth. At the same time, it revealed where our medical system often falls short, particularly in fostering trust, supporting physiology, honoring autonomy, centering informed choice, and providing meaningful education.
After earning an advanced degree in midwifery, it became clear that community-based care was where I belonged. I longed for small-scale, relationship-centered healthcare that prioritized continuity, presence, and trust. It was in this setting, at the Astoria Birth Center, that I grew into an experienced midwife and fell in love with the North Coast.
Giving birth to my daughter at home lifted yet another veil, and I realized the potency of birthing on my terms, in my space, with a team that I trusted and that trusted me. Through this experience, Moon Seasons was born. I am thrilled to be here and very excited to serve you.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Hawaii at Hilo and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Nurse-Midwifery from Oregon Health & Science University.
While these degrees represent my formal academic training, I believe education comes in many forms. I have more than a decade of experience walking alongside families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond, These experiences have shaped my midwifery just as profoundly as any classroom or textbook. The wisdom gained from clinical practice, mentorship, community, and my own journey into motherhood continues to inform and deepen the way I care for the individuals and families I serve.
